We had our stake carnival tonight. At this carnival, there was a game. And in this game you could win some fish! But to no avail, no one in our apartment won a fish - Despite the fact that we were already deemed fit to bring the babies home.
Later, after we had returned home, our "roommate" Brandon walked in carrying bags of goldfish! A gift. Our fish bowl would serve it's purpose at last! The carnival people had so many extra fish that they were begging anyone to come and take them home. They stopped Brandon, and he almost refused, but then he remembered our little bowl of water.
"Wait a second...I'll take six." He was their hero.
So the boys managed to transfer the fish to their new home. And then we realized how much responsibility it is to manage a pet...let alone six. We cannot leave the bowl by the window - the fish would freeze to death (Tim has had experience). We cannot leave them on the table - the water would slosh out. We don't have distilled water - David claims that water distills after sitting out after one day...well if that's the case, we have week old distilled water. They look so cramped - Think of where fish live in a pet store. Hold on! We don't have food - Now that's a problem....
We currently have six starving goldfish sitting on one of the burners of our stove. Ryan placed it there. It'll do for tonight. We have fish!!!
Taylor can't wait for the first one to die. She's very excited.
"I'm actually looking forward to the first funeral though. I want to see Phil dressed in black holding a bible in front of the toilet... :)" - Taylor A.
She may not have to wait that long. Maybe we aren't as fit as we thought...
