Here's to the month of June.
When we came back from our honeymoon, we both resumed our jobs at Housing. I was working full-time as a custodian cleaning up the dorms for the summer groups (like youth conferences, EFY groups, cheerleader camps, football camps, and 4-H) and Bill was working full-time as a temporary wire puller, particularly on the Rich Hall remodel. It was always great to bump into each other at work. :)
We had a barbeque over at my parents house and opened up wedding gifts. All we can say is THANK YOU. We felt overwhelmingly blessed when we realized that we had plentiful amounts of gifts to fill the back of the suburban. It was so nice to have practically every essential given to us so that we might start our LIFE off together in a smooth manner.
We traveled back up to our cozy home in Logan and unloaded all our gifts. We spent the next few days sorting repeat gifts, figuring out where they came from to make returns, and putting all our supplies away in the cupboards and closets throughout our apartment. It was overwhelming and exciting all at the same time as the fact that we were married became more and more real.
The next day,we drove Lex down to my in-laws house to see if we could repair him after his rock-hitting-doozy on our Honeymoon. Greg and Judy had escaped off to Salt Lake for the evening to go see MamaMia for a delayed Anniversary event. So while they were out and about, Ben helped us take a look at Lex. We also ran to Sportsman's to pick up last minute Father's Day gifts for our dads and made late-night runs to O'Reilly's Auto Parts to see if they had specific parts and to get their take on Lex's situation.
After checking with Greg, it was clear that things looked bad. There was truly no easy way to repair him at home. He would need to go in to see a mechanic.
Fortunately, Greg talked to Bill's uncle, who happened to be the service manager for Midas at the time, and he told us he would help us out! We got a pretty great deal on the repair service and after some interesting car swapping, Lex returned back to us as good as new...or at least, as good as he was before we hit whatever it was....
Note Bill's cute step stool. :) It makes me happy.

We stayed the night over at the Kiefer's in celebration of Father's Day! And early Sunday morning, we all got ready and went to Music and the Spoken Word at the Tabernacle in Salt Lake. This was my first time ever going! And it was absolutely beautiful and such a positive experience.
The day before, Bill's cousin Alyssa came home from her mission after serving for a year and a half in Argentina. Her family came down from Idaho to meet her at the SLC International Airport. So lucky for us, we were able to meet up with them for the performance. This was the first opportunity I had to meet Alyssa and she was as lovely and charming and goofy as the rest of her family. ;) We love the Herrin's!

After Music and the Spoken Word, we came back to the Kiefer's and had the Father's Day tradition of strawberry waffles! Yum!
You think I would have actually taken a picture of our Dad...but alas, I did not. Lame. Sorry Greg, my sincere apologies.
Judy is the Relief Society president, so I was able to help her put the last of the Father's Day cookie bags together for the fathers in the ward. Lucky dads!
And seeing as it was still fairly recent after our wedding, we got another wedding gift from a member in Bill's parent's ward! It was a red, white, and blue afghan that we promptly placed on the back of our couch for the upcoming Fourth of July Holiday...and it has stayed on the back of our couch ever since. It makes the perfect napping blanket. I love it!
We then went over to Grandma Sorenson's for third-Sunday dinner and enjoyed a delicious Father's Day meal. And then I was able to wish my own Pops a happy Father's day.
We love our parents, and especially our Dads. Thanks for raising us right papas! We owe a lot to you!
And thus concludes our first month as newly weds.
